Renewable Energy Supplier in Iran

The energy portfolio in our country, due to the abundant resources of oil and gas, is completely dependent on fossil fuels, and more than 90 percent of the country's electricity is supplied from these sources. However, globally the fastest growth between the energy resources in the world, has been in the electricity sector, led by photovoltaic solar power plants and next step belongs to the wind power plants.

Our country, despite the high level of sunlight, especially in the central and southern regions, and the wind in many regions specially the northern and southwestern regions, has a very high potential for renewable energy production and can be a key player in the field of renewable energy in the future of the region and the world.

On the other hand, given the severity of the water crisis at the global and national levels, and the high water consumption in conventional power plants, the electric power production approach will inevitably be directed towards the renewable power plants. In Iran, the capacity to produce solar electricity from photovoltaic systems is estimated at more than 60,000 MW and the potential for constructing wind power plants is estimated at more than 40,000 MW.
